The year has started our wonderfully. It's to great to be learning and laughing in our new beautiful classroom. We have a garden on our roof and a great view of a hillside - what a lucky bunch we are!
Week Without Walls
Monday, April 2nd - Friday, April 6th
This upcoming week, the fourth and fifth graders at KIS will participate in Week Without Walls. We will go on excursions around Jeju island, visit colleges, learn the positive and negative effects of tourism, help with beach clean-ups, and hike our lovely Olle trails.
Students will think about issues in the community and connect their learning with their core subjects: English, Math, Science, and Social Studies. Check out the file below for a full schedule and integration.
Together as a class, we have decided on our 'Classroom Expectations". We feel that it boils down to simply four:
1) English Only
2) Respect
3) Listen
4) No Bullying
So far, the students have behaved as mature young adults. They work hard and help each other. I even heard from some other teachers that have been 'impressed' with Grade 5 Yellow.
Great job, class!
Technology
The students have been assigned all of their textbooks and their very own MacBook laptop. We will be integrating technology into all of our subjects, using Mac applications and online resources to bring our classroom into the 21st century.
Our classroom also has an Epson interactive projector which will enable audio learners, visual learners, and hand-on learners to engage in our lessons.
Class Schedule
*Note: On Mondays, class begins at 9:00am.
